This is the best month for us to shear the previous year’s drop rams and ewes. The dry year meant that any young sheep grazing bean stubbles showed some dust. We had taken all the wool visual observations and found variation in dust penetration. After shearing we measured the scrotal circumference of all the young rams. This is a good indicator of fertility and contributes to the accuracy of data once submitted for analysis.
SA Sheep Expo continues to excite us as a brilliant event for training young people who are interested in the sheep industry in a broad range of topics that include health, nutrition, handling and career opportunities.
Lauren and Damien and their boys Ryan and Hayden, as well as Joy and Allen all had some involvement. Ryan and Hayden both gathered some awards and recognition of their skills and knowledge.
